This report follows up on the second global Aid for Trade convention held in Geneva in July 2009. Access to international markets remains a problem for developing countries, particularly when dealing in agricultural commodities. The author believes that Aid for Trade has the potential to reduce these constraints and enhance trade performance. It can increase household income – generating direct benefits – and increase government tax take, raising the possibility of indirect benefits through public spending.
