Publication
31 Oct 2005
This publication discusses the October 2005 terrorist attacks in New Delhi and their possible impact for stability in South Asia. In this context, the author examines three issues: the sustainability of the peace process between India and Pakistan; Islamabad's crackdown on terrorist groups operating from Pakistan; and the effect of the September 2005 earthquake in parts of both India and Pakistan, which killed up to 60,000 people, including an estimated 1,800 extremists in Kashmir. The author concludes by urging both sides not to let terrorists derail the Pakistani-Indian peace process.
