This paper examines how the appearance of two new political parties will make Malaysia’s politics even more complex and diverse than it already is. Indeed, the potential consequences of this development are threefold – 1) the new parties may eventually fill thorny political gaps; 2) the addition of new parties, NGOs, and associations may help facilitate greater political mobilization among the Malaysian people; and 3) the new parties will most likely make future elections less predictable.
