The author describes the four revolutionary trends in the field of communications in the past 15 years. The unmanageable quantity of ideas account for the loss of conversational skills, decrease in the sense of social responsibility, and false sense of instant satisfaction of needs. Fewer cable services means more control of the news and that media moguls cooperate rather than compete. Hence, the author warns that the negative trends provide fertile ground for the emergence of populists and demagogues, as it happened before the Second World War.
