This study shows that while the crime rates in South Africa have decreased for most categories in the recent years, the media’s coverage on crime has proportionally increased. Similar tendencies are presented in Namibia regarding corruption cases and their reportage. Yet, certain important issues have fallen out from the media's agenda even as the situation is worsening: HIV/Aids is a good case at hand.
