The article examines the coverage of Europe and other topics in domestic European Union member state media. It notes that the relatively low importance of EU protagonists in the news supports the assumption that national perspectives continue to dominate coverage on the European Union and questions related to European politics. Europe is often far and away in national media, and the coverage of Europe differs between countries and across time, depending on other relevant developments taking place domestically or internationally. Coverage of other topics like sports and the US is mostly related to domestic factors and developments.
