This issue of the Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst includes analytical articles and field reports on security issues facing the Central Asia-Caucasus region in August 2011. The analytical articles examine the ramifications of proposed US sanctions on Iran for the wider Black Sea-Caspian region; the implications of the reunification of the Caucasus Emirate; Iran's hardening diplomatic tactics toward the Central Asia-Caucasus region; and institutional reform in Uzbekistan. In addition, some shorter field reports provide accounts of the World Bank's role in halting the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Tajikistan; negotiations with opposition groups in Armenia following allegations of electoral irregularities; Azerbaijan's formal protests to French and German MPs over their apparent recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic; and the agreement to intensify bilateral economic cooperation between South Korea and Kazakhstan.
