This paper discusses conventional military assets available to destroy or disrupt strategic targets in the Middle East. Such targets include military or political control centers, key infrastructure deep inside the territory of adversaries or civilian population centers. Capabilities to destroy or disrupt strategic targets depend on the resources available to attack and the resources available to defend against such attacks. As an introduction to the issue this paper looks at how the conventional strategic capabilities have developed over the past 20 years in the countries in the Middle East.
