This paper concentrates on the distinction between the form and content of field research on Central Asian Politics. It explains that a researcher is likely to categorize and explain his/her observations differently depending on the location where the research was conducted and the methods used. The author asks the researchers to be beware of the imprint their methods are bound to leave on the object of interest, in the hope of raising awareness towards the distinctions that guide their observations.
