This monograph examines the various forms, patterns, and evolutionary trends of Islamic education in Malaysia. Malaysia's increasingly pronounced Islamic posture has elicited concerns from Western strategists who fear radical changes in its geopolitical trajectory. While aim of state-managed and independent Islamic education centers are theoretically similar, autonomous initiatives for Islamic education have struggled to survive in the face of a state run program that tightly guards its rights to deem what is legitimate in Islam.
