In this paper the author analyzes the construction of new political orders in the wake of the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In particular he concentrates on the landlocked Central Asian countries including Afghanistan and the Caucasus region and their reintegration with the world economy through cost- effective transportation routes through Southwest Asia. In this regard the author welcomes the Greater Central Asia Partnership as a major attempt to reach this goal. New transit routes via Pakistan and consequent economic developments are likely to stabilize the Central and South Asian regions.
