Against the backdrop of reduced donor support to NGOs in Kyrgyzstan and the ensuing fundraising problem, the author ask if NGOs are ready to survive without donor support. To answer this question she analyzes whether NGOs have other sources of funding which would replace donor grants. The answer is negative and the author finds that the state and the business sector are seen as the potential sources of funding in future. However, a lack of favorable legislation and a presence of negative stereotyped opinions impede NGOs from receiving financial support from the state and the business sector.
