This report provides an overview of issues facing the Central Asia-Caucasus region, with a particular focus on security-related topics. It includes an analysis of Kazakh cooperation with NATO which is seen as a sign for its pursuit of a more pro-western approach to its foreign policy and military cooperation. This is followed by a discussion of efforts aimed at normalizing relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the report examines the fragility of Georgian political institutions and explores the issue of Russian Taliban fighters being held in Guantanamo before concluding with news bites and field reports from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Iran.
