This brief discusses the political, moral and social quandary that comes with the density of kidnapping in Venezuela. There have always been kidnappings in Venezuela, but they used to be either mostly along the lawless border with Colombia or highly-organized with high-net-worth targets in Caracas and other industrial centers. But today there is a rising trend in kidnapping: the taking of Major League Baseball players and their families.
