The commentary offers an insight into the relationship between China and India, focussing on the rhetoric of cooperation and the potential causes of conflict between the two Asian Giants. According to the author, the whole structure of bilateral relations is conditioned by the classic security dilemma, where any action taken by one actor is immediately interpreted by the other as a threat to its interests and security. The analysis illustrates the complex dynamics of the Sino-Indian relations through an indepth investigation of strategic advantages, diplomatic relations, military projections and naval power, nuclear program -related security issues and border tensions. The author thus concludes that a troubled history coupled with the structural uncertainties engendered by their simultaneous rise is propelling the two Asian giants into a trajectory that they might find difficult to navigate in the coming years.
