This paper examines India-ASEAN trade relations. The author points out that there has been a significant growth in bilateral trade between ASEAN and India in the last decade. India has been keen to leverage the advantages of closer linkages with the ASEAN countries and a trade agreement was signed in 2010. The author sees these developments as a first step towards the envisaged ASEAN-India Free Trade Area.
