This paper discusses the involvement of the private sector in national security issues. The author explains that while cooperation between states in areas such as information sharing and joint operations has increased since the 11 September 2001 attacks, the level of dialog and cooperation between the public and private sector has been much more measured. He urges both multinational corporations (MNCs) and local businesses to take national security issues into concern and engage more proactively with governments and policy makers.
