How well did the G20, IMF, and WTO handle the global financial crisis? To answer this question systematically, the authors of this research paper evaluate the effectiveness and perceived legitimacy of the three institutions during this crisis. All three institutions show deficits in both areas. If they worked together more closely in the future, the authors argue, they could improve the long-term effectiveness and legitimacy of the entire governance system.
