The commentary discusses Moscow’s relationships with its in the Russian Far East (RFE). Moscow’s authority rests mainly in its political-military presence in the RFE. Yet it is the the non-security components of power that will ultimately determine whether Moscow can successfully retain real sovereignty over the RFE.
