This monograph studies the Arab Gulf states, focusing on their responses to the threats that confront them. Special attention is paid to the relations of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman with Iran, which since the Islamic Revolution occupies a central role in their threat perception. The author reviews the principal trends that characterize security in the Gulf in light of the changes in the regional and international arenas, and the reciprocal relations between internal and external threats that together define the security agenda of the Gulf States.
