This policy brief discusses several developments surrounding South Korean relations with China and the US. It raises the issue of a series of bilateral conflicts and entanglements that have served to increase negative South Korean perceptions of China, and polls reflecting a growing ambivalence among the South Korean population. In addition, China's rise puts South Korea in a strategic dilemma between China and the US, South Korea's traditional ally. The brief also addresses how the South Korean presidential elections may influence the country's relations with the US and China.
