This policy brief addresses the imminent request of the Palestinian authority to be internationally recognized as a "non-member" state of the United Nations. The authors predict that the UN will largely vote in favor of the appeal, but argue that it will not promote a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Rather, the authors predict negative consequences for the peace process.
