This paper analyzes the enlargement process of the European Union in Central and Eastern Europe. The author examines the political concepts and actual strategies that have shaped the EU's enlargement activities. The paper states that the main aim of the EU enlargement process was not only achieving regional integration, but also general stabilization on the perimeter of the European neighborhood.
