This policy brief is concerned with how the SED impacts future bilateral economic cooperation between China and India. It concludes that, as a mechanism, the SED might over time become a strong confidence-building-measure between the two countries. However, a lack of understanding regarding each other’s domestic economic regulations and market conditions constrains greater economic exchanges and cross-border investments.
