This paper examines transatlantic relations in the context of the US' shifting focus to the Asia-Pacific. The author argues that NATO and the EU need to fundamentally adapt their policies and refocus on emerging, small-scale domains. Developing a more networked approach would lead to more effective decision making based on a common organizational platform among EU and NATO states. The author concludes that the resulting 'situational awareness' would lead to operational advantages on the battlefield and enhanced prosperity and security more generally.
