This volume proposes some pragmatic and achievable actions that the president and his team can take to deal with some of the most important international challenges the country faces. The goal is to help advance international peace and security with realistic and realizable steps. The authors stress practicality over partisanship, flexibility over rigidity, and innovation over outdated approaches. They approach issues of international security from the perspective of fundamental values about the changing nature of power and politics in a globalized world, about America's capacity to help shape and solve many of the world's greatest challenges, and about the importance of institutions and norms that promote global cooperation.
