A good number of commentators have expressed dismay at the spending cuts to Australia's defense budget claiming that the government’s long-term commitment to strengthen Australia’s defense has evaporated. This policy analysis examines whether Australia’s security would be compromised if the country settled on a less ambitious plan for its defense force than the one set out in the 2009 Defense White Paper. The author doesn't think it would be.
