This commentary talks about the US military strategy and suggests that since the 1990s the military has changed from a force of confrontation to one of cooperation. It says that instead of focusing on waging large scale combat, the force is now concerned more with conflict prevention. He concludes by suggesting that this transformation should not be overlooked in terms of those who would criticize the US in terms of a militarization of its foreign policy. He also suggests that the demands that other developed countries put on the US need to be recognized.
