In this article the author examines the possibility of an 'end-game' or resolution, peaceful or violent, to the Syrian Civil War. The author argues that international investment in the Syrian Baathist regime's survival combined with the unpalatable prospect of a post-Assad Syria in which Al-Qaeda and other Sunni extremists control vast tracts of territory means that the bloody impasse is likely to continue.
