This brief reviews key aspects of the new financial regulatory paradigm from a transatlantic perspective. It focuses on the legislative response by the EU and US to the financial crisis and the G-20 commitments, specifically regarding extraterritorial implications. Following a discussion of the institutional setting, conclusions are offered on what these changes mean in the context of the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
