This paper analyzes two major actions undertaken by the Chinese authorities in the context of its domestic dispute with the Tibetans. The first is the visit by Yu Zhengsheng, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, to the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan province. The second constitutes of the nomination of five Tibetan Buddhist Reincarnates into various organs and levels of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
