This brief reflects on decisions made by the Indian Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in 2013. The author argues that the decisions made were a bold attempt at addressing past criticisms of policy and direction in defense procurement that suggested that the process needed to deal with issues of corruption and needless procedural complexity. He believes that the decisions have set the stage for a significant improvement in defense procurements.
