This brief explains why an accidental injury sustained by the politician Imran Khan could affect Pakistan’s election results. The author believes that Khan’s withdrawal from active campaigning could lead to street protests from younger voters if poll results are not as good as expected. He also thinks that, regardless of whether the elections actually give Khan a prominent seat at the policy-making table, the youth surge he has catalyzed will bring about fundamental changes.
