This paper argues that we are witnessing a worldwide expansion of war and violence, which should be countered by the development of a wider concept of the meaning of containment. The author writes that while such ideas are not new, the need to implement them is now greater than ever. Furthermore, he suggests that the idea behind the concept is very simple: If the world is something like a global network, the task is to protect our connections in the net and contain the spread of war and violence throughout this network.
