This brief outlines the reasons behind Sharif's popularity following his election in Pakistan's 2013 elections and suggests a likely agenda for his upcoming term. The author suggests his government will probably prioritize domestic political and economic development to boost the country's ailing economy. As part of this, the author thinks Sharif will need to combat internal terrorism and restore investor confidence. Significant structural reforms and a potential agreement with the International Monetary Fund should also be considered.
