This brief examines India's foreign policy toward Iran. Despite international sanctions, New Delhi is pursuing stronger economic and political ties with Iran. The author argues that there are substantial economic and political benefits from pursuing a deeper engagement with Iran. However, she cautions that India must consider how such engagement impacts its ties with Israel, the US and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as well as how Iran's foreign policy will develop if sanctions are lifted.
