This paper examines the reasons behind the unpopularity and resistance against the Basel capital framework for banks (Basel III). The author summarises the reasons for the flaws and complexity of the existing framework and concludes that that the Basel III revision has failed to correct them. He also outlines possible solutions and alternatives to Basel III.
