This brief discusses the opportunities and the potential for greater engagement between the EU and Angola. Though EU member states engage with Angola, the EU as a whole has not consolidated a relationship with the government in Luanda. The author argues that as Angola's oil industry and regional influence grows, so does the importance of improving EU-Angolan relations. This is so the EU can constructively guide Angola in issues such as regional stabilization efforts and domestic political reform.
