This brief addresses the Indian Rupee’s sudden slide, which has created panic in business and policy circles. The author outlines the major concerns regarding this issue, specifically whether the slide will adversely affect the Current Account Deficit and inflation and whether it will increase the fiscal deficit. The author concludes by arguing that Indian policy makers can convert the falling rupee into an economic opportunity.
