This paper looks at the role of nuclear power in South Korea’s national strategy for green growth. The author argues that the green growth framework provided South Korea with a justification to expand its nuclear power infrastructure. However, recent reports of safety and control problems at nuclear power plants in South Korea as well as the nuclear accident in Fukushima have undermined public trust in the safety and reliability of nuclear power.
