This note examines the technical characteristics and effectiveness of guided light weapons. It explains the challenge facing the international community related to these weapons and provides an overview of the extent of the possession of these weapons by non-state groups. It pays particular attention to the types of guidance system and the sophistication of the weapons that these groups have.
