Publication

This publication argues that there is an urgent need to establish an extensive knowledge base on how to deal with the Sahel region. In particular, the complexity and constant changes of relevant actors, groups and organizations require careful analysis. The author recommends how to establish such a knowledge base. He argues that the development of a Sahel Development Research Institute as proposed by the UN Special Envoy for the region, Romani Prodi, could be a center piece of such an initiative.
