This brief examines the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is at the center of China's ‘Look West’ policy to find the natural resources it needs from countries to its west. The author states that both China and Pakistan have ambitious plans for the corridor that include the building of railways and pipelines and argues that the corridor could provide a link between China and the energy resources of the Middle East. He also touches upon other elements of the ‘Look West’ policy, such as China’s interests in Afghanistan, Africa and India.
