This brief discusses the indictment of former military strongman and ex-president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, on charges relating to the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. After outlining the charges against Musharraf, the author discusses these accusations and looks more broadly at the place of the army within Pakistani society as well as the challenges the country faces.
