This commentary explores classical geopolitical analysis - which it argues has been overlooked since the Cold War - and applies it to the relationship between China and the US. The author particularly focuses on three classical geopolitical theorists - Alfred Mahan, Halford Mackinder, and Nicholas Spykman - and provides a brief breakdown of their thought. He concludes by reminding the reader of the importance of geopolitical analysis and that the US should monitor and preserve the balance of great powers within Eurasia or face the consequences in terms of its prosperity and security.
