This commentary is a transcript of a lecture on civil-military relations in the US and the factors that will influence these in the future. The speaker argues that civil-military relations constitute a bargain over the allocation of responsibilities and privileges between civil government and the military establishment. He then goes on to talk about the key questions in this bargaining process and concludes by highlighting the importance of establishing trust in civil-military relations in the US in the post-9/11 era.
