This paper looks at how UK's withdrawal from the EU could affect both parties. It first explains the development of the UK debate on EU membership and then discusses the EU's response to this debate. It also examines the possible procedure the UK could go through to leave the EU. The author concludes that withdrawal would have profound implications and costs for the UK and that it would result in significant changes to the EU as well.
