This working paper analyzes the use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in Thailand and Malaysia, the two most FTA-active developing countries in East Asia. It finds that overall, the rate at which FTAs are used by these countries is higher than the projected estimates and surveys suggest, although in most cases it is still low compared to other regions with well-established FTAs.
