This issue of the CTTA focuses on the divergent roles of women in terrorist groups, women’s motivations for joining such groups and more. The featured articles look at 1) the role of women in the Sri Lankan insurgent group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE); 2) female ‘jihadism’ in Bangladesh; and 3) the participation of women left-wing extremism in India. The issue also includes a commentary on the prosecution of a senior Indonesian terrorist leader in the United States and its implications for Jakarta’s internal security and counter-extremism efforts.
