This commentary highlights several contenders among the twenty-four division generals of the Mexican Army who are eligible to become Mexico's next Defense Secretary. It also describes the selection procedure and considers several factors that have turned this process from sharp-elbowed lobbying into a free-for-all within the Ministry of Defense.
